“Awesome Looks” provides 32 amazing presets for Magic Bullet Looks that add style and elegance to your footage. Packed with an assortment of multiple genres of “looks,” this preset pack can transform your footage into a vintage farm-house-film, or a warm, elegant, wedding trailer. Looks presets are designed to take away the tedious time and effort that it takes to build a custom look that fits the scene and sets a mood throughout the entire film.

Features

$16 gets you this pack of presets including:

7 Vintage
5 Wedding
5 Retro
Two-Strip Technicolor
Special Effects
Warm Stocks
Black and Whites
General Feel Goods
And more….

I’ve worked pretty hard on these presets the past few weeks. Tweaking them with an assortment of various images. But, I think you guys will love them. I’ve got some vintage presets, a few weddings, some retros, and some good ol’-fashioned feel goods in there as well. There’s a couple that are “special effects.” You’ll see what I mean, they’re pretty crazy.

Thanks for checking them out, and especially thanks for those of you who buy them. This package is only 16 Washingtons, compared to a Franklin that other MBL preset packs cost……I’m just sayin’.

Weekly Gem: TMTS plug-ins for FCP

Too Much Too Soon: Final Cut Pro plug-ins (FREE!)

I use these filters and transition is almost every project that I edit. I especially love the “Flashframe” transition. It creates a very natural and stylish flash to transition between clips. VERY handy when using film burns.

Mattias also provides some pretty slick filters as well. Noise reduction and Custom Diffusion to name a couple.

Overall, what’s not to love about this plug-in set? It’s useful, give it a try. And the best part, it’s free!

Simon Walker’s Looks Presets: Wedding

Speaking of Magic Bullet Looks, Red Giant Software has just released another guru preset pack. This time, from the mind of Simon Walker, the presets are geared towards weddings and events. Now, I’m a wedding videographer and I use MBL on EVERY shot. Some of the key tools that I use to make clips seem “elegant,” is a warming filter, and a diffusion. Looking at these presets, I can tell he has the same mindset. They do look stinkin’ good though. Use your own judgment on whether or not these are worth it.

New “Basic Final Cut Pro Tutorials” in the mix

Recently, I’ve had a few questions from aspiring filmmakers. Most of the issues are easily addressed with a quick demonstration, but sometimes hard to explain over a simple email or Facebook message. So, I figured I would dip my toes into the world of tutorials, and what better place to start, than at the beginning? I’ll be addressing Final Cut Pro techniques and tips, and may even throw in some After Effects quickies as well.

The tuts will be under the assumption that you know how to use FCP or AE, but need a little push in the right direction to spark your creative juices. Such as this question via Facebook from a gentleman named Phillipe, “How do I place my video inside a picture frame?” To some, it may be a simple solution, but others may have the same question. It really is a simple procedure to add a frame around the video, but the easiest way to show-how-to, would be a how-to video.

So keep an eye out for some rockin’ FCP tuts! Follow me on Twitter and I’ll let you know when they hit the site. And if you have any questions or tutorials that you would like to see, hit me up!
